In the 50th anniversary year of Kunstraum München, two artists from different generations are brought together. While Franz Erhard Walther is considered a pioneer of conceptual art and minimal art, Santiago Sierra achieved international significance through provocative installations and political activism. For the actions, which will take place in public space in cooperation with the performance series En plein air, Santiago Sierra will photograph a larger number of refugees from war zones who are currently in Munich at various locations simultaneously. Alternating with Sierra’s performances, activations of selected objects by Franz Erhard Walther will also take place at these locations. The participatory and performative character of the actions, which involve different groups of people, not only creates a dialogue between the two artists, but is also able to open up a new audience in unusual places in public space.
